The thermal switch, also called thermal protection, is able to interrupt the circuit in the event of a current overload, usually they must be combined with thermal fuses to also protect against short circuits.

Usually the thermal circuit breakers are in the normally closed position and at the moment of a fault they open closing the circuit; to reset it, it will then be necessary to act manually on the switch.

On the basis of the breaking capacity (A), they are able to interrupt a certain current intensity.
